Skip the Wine—Pair Your Next Multi-Course Dinner Party with Tequila Instead
Sep. 5, 2019
Wine pairing lends a certain feel to fancy multi-course meals—but what would happen if you switched it up with tequila instead? A different kind of dinner party for sure. Indeed, high-quality tequila made with 100% Weber Blue Agave can be imbibed like a fine vintage, with smoothness and richness in flavor elevating as the number of years it’s been aged increases. So for your next dinner party, substitute fine wines for bottles of Patrón Silver, Patrón Reposado and Patrón Añejo to the menu? A tequila tasting is a unique way to engage guests in a new dinner experience.
Begin the first course with Patrón Silver served in the most traditional way: neat, and in shot glasses to be sipped slowly. As the youngest of the tequilas with the brightest agave profile, Silver goes best with citrus, like lemon, lime and grapefruit, and acidic dishes, cold appetizers and chilled seafood dishes (think chips and salsa, ceviche or shrimp).
For the main course, bring out the Patrón Reposado. Aged in oak barrels, this tequila picks up a unique smokiness that goes well with BBQ, like ribs and grilled chicken. And finally, for dessert, break out some elegant snifters and fill them with Patrón Añejo. Aged for more than a year in small batches, it goes perfectly with chocolate. After dinner, craft a cocktail using your favorite spirt.
